Medium-weighted aromas of stewed fruit and Bing cherry offer a perfect interplay with notes of smoke and bacon. Complex and enticing, the bouquet maintains its mixture of fruit and spicy, savoury notes at it opens up. The forward and fruity palate has a moderately rich texture on the midpalate with fine tannins contributing to a spicy finish and just enough acid to keep the palate fresh and lively. Flavors of dark fruit and chocolate develop and add interest to the backpalate. Delicious and approachable, this is a great example of the balanced style of shiraz starting to emerge from Australia.

Relax Cool Red wine is a distinct violet-red in color with a semi-opaque core going out into a pinkish-lilac hue at the rim and relatively high viscosity. There is a burst of candied red cherries, strawberry sauce and raspberry sorbet right off the bat, then phenolic compounds and a touch of minerality, but it is a very clean nose of pure bright red fruit.

This Cabernet Sauvignon displays dark fruit jams, bordering on a syrupy character. Aromas of sweet nuts, sweet aromatics and black pepper complement the dark fruit aromas and flavors of this curvaceous wine. The palate is dense and chewy without being overly astringent. Blend: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc.

ITALIAN RED WINE

Insogila Toscana
Dark, almost opaque. Pungent nose of licorice, mint and blackberry. Then in the mouth, a wine of surprising size and richness. Round, lush, fruit forward and a deep core of black licorice on the finish. Lots of early approachability due to its glossiness. Very modern feel. I would not have picked this out as having Tuscan origins, but that may well reflect my limited experience with this particular style.$31.99  750ml

Lagone has a warm deep red color close to purple. Delicate aromas of Mediterranean wood and vanilla emphasize the structured and elegant taste with intense notes of wild berries, ripe juicy sour cherries and hints of sweet spices that leave the palate satisfied and pleasantly sweet and dry.
